City of Newark Fire Station #1

City of Newark Fire Station #1

Newark, CA

Newarks's Fire Station #1 reflects the traditional appearance of masonry with practical symmetric design. As an essential facility, this building must be durable and capable of withstanding natural disaster forces and concrete block will provide the necessary protection.

Four inch nominal face brick clads the structural concrete block. Cast stone is integrated into the design completing the harmony of various materials. The use of structural and decorative masonry allows coordination of the frame and cladding by a single contractor expediting the construction schedule. As with so many prominent civic facilities, the extensive use of masonry in Fire Station #1 will be admired by the community for many years.
